Marco Rocks' Key Largo limestone base rock is the most ideal substrate for aquascaping your reef aquarium!  This rock is sourced from the most porous, yet durable Key Largo limestone formation in South Florida.  Marco Rocks are chemically identical to the rocks of the coral reef (aragonite calcium carbonate), and is the most sustainable (and economical) alternative to using live rock harvested from the wild. Virtually absent of phosphate, so no curing is needed!

Starting with Marco Rocks is the best method for creating the aquascape of your dreams.  By utilizing this dry rock, you will be able to take your time to find the perfect rock placement before filling your aquarium with water. The dry method also allows the most unique aquascaping possibilities by allowing the rockwork to be secured into dramatic arches, pillars, and other unusual positions using epoxy, hydrolic cement, or nylon rods.  In several months, this formerly dry rock will begin to become encrusted with pink and purple coralline algae making it your very own homegrown aquacultured live rock aquascape.  The porosity of this rock is ideal for attachment of coral frags and plugs, and its aragonite chemistry will fuel stony coral growth.

In the 'Morphologic Method', the second step to developing a sustainable reef aquarium aquascape involves introducing Eco-Gorgs™ as the first coral.  Not only are Eco-Gorgs™ exceptionally hardy, they will add instant verticality and gentle movement in the current, providing you with the perfect foundation to begin adding smaller frags of our other aquaculture corals.
