› Description

Flower anemones are one of the easiest sea anemones to keep in a reef aquarium.  Also known as rock anemones because they prefer to anchor their foot into a crevice in a rock.  Once situated, they rarely move, making them a much more reliable anemone than almost any other species in the general reef aquarium.  They can tolerate low to high light and do not require much supplemental feeding. Weekly feeding with meaty foods, or even pellets, will be eagerly accepted.  Flower anemones host several species of anemone shrimps (Periclimenes sp.) in the wild.  In the aquarium sebae and Clark's clownfish have been known to take up residence, despite the difference in geogaphic origin.  Flower anemones will grow up to 6" in diameter after several years.  They do not split in half naturally, and attempting to cut a flower anemone in half (like a maxi-mini carpet) will guarantee its demise.

Please note, our Flower Anemones are sold 'potted' in PVC endcaps.  This allows them to be easily placed into the sand bed of the reef aquarium without worry that they will wind up somewhere they aren't wanted (like a pump or in another coral)
